Hajj Rituals Step by Step

Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, and the sacred Muslim pilgrimage to Makkah.
Every eligible Muslim must perform Hajj once in a lifetime, if physically and financially able.
Hajj is a profound spiritual journey, offering forgiveness, renewal, and a closer connection to Allah. It is the heart of the holy pilgrimage to Mecca and a central act of worship in Islam.

01. Ihrram

Start your Hajj journey with a sincere intention to enter the state of Ihram and engage in the rituals of Hajj, with the recitation of the Talbiyah. Then, put on the Ihram garments.

02. Tawaf Al-Qudum

Upon entering Makkah, perform the Tawaf Al-Qudum by circumambulating the Kaaba seven times. Then, pray two Rak'ahs of Tawaf behind the Maqam Ibrahim (as possible).

03. Sa'i between Safa and Marwa

Start your Hajj journey with a sincere intention to enter the state of Ihram and engage in the rituals of Hajj, with the recitation of the Talbiyah. Then, put on the Ihram garments.

04. Mina (the Day of Tarwiyah)

The Day of Tarwiyah marks the beginning of the core Hajj rites, when pilgrims travel to Mina to prepare spiritually and physically for the days ahead. It is a day of reflection, prayer, and intention, spent in worship before continuing the journey to Arafah.

05. Arafah (Day of the Greater Hajj)

Upon entering Makkah, perform the Tawaf Al-Qudum by circumambulating the Kaaba seven times. Then, pray two Rak'ahs of Tawaf behind the Maqam Ibrahim (as possible).

06. Muzdalifah

Upon entering Makkah, perform the Tawaf Al-Qudum by circumambulating the Kaaba seven times. Then, pray two Rak'ahs of Tawaf behind the Maqam Ibrahim (as possible).

07. Pelt Jamrat Al-Aqabah

On the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah (the Day of Eid), return to Mina and pelt Jamrat Al-Aqabah with seven pebbles while reciting Takbeer

08. Adhahi

09. Shave Hair or Trim

On the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah (the Day of Eid), return to Mina and pelt Jamrat Al-Aqabah with seven pebbles while reciting Takbeer

11. Pelting the three Jamarat

Upon entering Makkah, perform the Tawaf Al-Qudum by circumambulating the Kaaba seven times. Then, pray two Rak'ahs of Tawaf behind the Maqam Ibrahim (as possible).
